It’s the buzz word today and every conversation eventually leads to Sustainability issues and its impact on the climate crisis. Food is a key element and contributor of this Sustainability challenge.

The food system is responsible for approximately 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions and consumes 70% of global freshwater withdrawals. It is also highly energy-intensive, not only for processing but also for growing, harvesting, and transporting food to processing plants.

Additionally, the accumulation of food and beverage packaging in landfills and its pollution of land and seas exacerbate the issue. The production of new packaging further strains our limited water and energy resources.


Food wastage is another critical issue, with approximately one-third of all food produced annually being lost or wasted throughout the food lifecycle. Consequently, the food system emerges as a critical area requiring focused attention and strategic intervention from brands. It is time to reevaluate our approach to sustainability.
It’s time to redefine Green!! The shift must move beyond the traditional, passive space of lush green produce, prosperous farmers and doing your bit for environment to a burning need of the hour requirement calling for proactive measures and transformative, concrete action across all business operations, influencing the entire food system from farm to factory to fork.
